what is the convention of a svn folder name ?

Hi all,

When we check out files from svn server svn creates a folder with name
".svn" in all the subfolders. In some machines it is creating the folders
with name "_svn". I need to know what are other possibilities ?
Why it is creating with different names ? On what factors it depends ? I am
sure I installed the same version on two machines but it is creating
different folder name(.svn , _svn).
