Thanks Lubbe,

Most of the time the computer (laptop) is behind a NAT/Router/firewall
so turning off ZoneAlarm for updates is possible, but inconvenient.

I don't understand what you mean by 'define an exeption for
TortoiseSVN'. I tried setting ZoneAlarm program control to allow
TortoiseSVN, Tortoiseplink, and TortoiseAct full server/client
permission and set the SVN server host in the trusted zone. Didn't help.
Could you clarify? Thanks,
