Error: can't create tunnel :%1 is not a valid Win32 application

Dear all,

first, just to let you know that I am very new to SVN. I am facing the
following problem:

I have installed TortoiseSvn client and everything seems to work fine
apart from the fact that I cannot checkout svn+ssh reposistories.
Whenever I try to checkout, I get the following message:

'svn: Can't create tunnel: %1 is not a valid Win32 application'

I have searched on the web, and various people suggested to look at the
setting of Tortoise and specify the link TortoisePlink.exe in the "ssh
client" option. This didn't seem to work. I also even changed manually
the config file of Tortoise by including the following lines:

[tunnels]
ssh = C:/Program Files/TortoiseSVN/bin/TortoisePlink.exe

but this didn't work either.

I wonder what the problem is. I don't know if this helps, but before
installing tortoise I have installed the file which is located in
http://svn1clicksetup.tigris.org/ and am not sure if this has messed
everything up.

Any help is much appreciated. Note that checking out https://
repositories is absolutely fine.
