Here's another vote for this as a good idea, perhaps as an option.
Sending emails is a nice idea, but this depends on a mail server that might
be slow, unavailable, or unusable for various reasons. If my email is
delayed for a couple hours or days, I might not get the notice in a timely
way. In my situation, this option isn't available to me because of security
limitations.
An RSS feed is another good idea. But if my user forgets to check for
modifications in TSVN, he'll probably forget to check his RSS reader too.
Even if TSVN could, at startup, present a dialog box to the effect that,
"There are changes in several repos and you should update your working
copies.", it would be a great help. Because if I miss an update that I
need, I can get into a nasty situation. If the repository were unavailable,
it could either be silent or pop up an "I can't check for changes right now"
message.
Simon's point mentioned that his users aren't always highly experienced
developers. My users _are_, and they still would find this feature useful.
Even if everyone knows what they should do, sometimes they forget. I'd like
it if the tool helps us prevent problems even when we forget to do
everything right.
