Problem with Overlay Icons

From: Joe Mather <joemath_at_bellsouth.net>

Hello.

I've encountered a problem with the overlay icons: they only appear in every
other Windows login session.

When I boot up and login to Windows, there are no Tortoise overlay icons in
Explorer. If I logout of Windows, then back in, the icons appear. If I
relogin again, the icons are gone. If I relogin yet again, the icons
appear. This pattern continues. If I reboot the computer, the pattern
starts at the beginning (no icons).

My configuration: Win XP Home SP2, Tortoise SVN V1.4.3.8645, all check-out
folders are on a TrueCrypt volume on my local hard drive.

I've already tried the recommendations on the website: rebuilding icons,
changing Max Cached Icons to 2048, reinstalling Tortoise and running
ClearInstall.exe in-between, etc. None of those resolved the problem

The problem started when I upgraded to the latest version of Tortoise.
Before then, I believe I was running V1.4.1.7992, but I'm not certain.

I'm not subscribed to the mailing list, so please reply to me directly in
addition to the list.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
