Host name resolving problem

Hallo,

we have used subversion for 2 years until now. It's a great tool, which have
never made any troubles on itself. Thanks to the developers.

Now, we had a harddisk crash and lost some commits.

Well, because of that fact we decided to cleanup our repository before
re-adding the lost files. svnadmin and svndumpfilter have done a good job.

Now, we have two repositories and we want to include Repository B as
external resource in repository A.

Because of a local network with external hosts over vpn and nat we added a
hostname in the hosts file, which shall be used for resolving the linked
repository B within repository A. Using the added host name works fine with
e.g. ping.

However, it seems, that neither svn checkout nor TortoiseSVN uses the local
hosts file for resolving host names (We are using the svn protocol). Because
of that, it is really possible, that the name resolving wouldn't work within
linking one repository to another one, too.

If there is no solution to that we will have to rollback cleaning up the
repository.

Have we taken any mistake by setting up the hosts file, or could there be a
bug in name resolving within svn/tortoisesvn?

Thanks for help

Lars Eulberg
