One more point:
The md5 checksum generated by fciv DOES match the checksum at the dowload
site for the x64 package.

And I see now that you're the owner, Stefan. I think maybe we have a bad
win32 installer out there?

Tried three different mirrors. Got the same checksum and the same install
failure each time. I don't have access to a Linux box to verify that
Microsoft's fciv.exe md5 generator matches the equivalent on Linux, but that
seems likely.

Could someone out there kindly check the integrity of the current Windows
installer TortoiseSVN-1.4.1.7992-win32-svn-1.4.2.msi
on Sourceforge?
