What exactly are those patterns used for again?
Oh, yes: to tell the cache which folders to scan so it doesn't have to
scan everything just to find out whether something is versioned or
not.

That means: "should include C:\Delphi and all its *versioned*
subfolders" just doesn't work, because that pattern is actually there
to tell the cache what's versioned and what's not.

Jein.
If you change an excluded file, then the notification won't trigger a
recrawl in the cache, i.e. the cache will ignore the change
notification of that particular file.
But it will still be included if it's versioned and another event
triggers the cache to crawl the folder where that file is in.
