Hi Lübbe.
I solved this a completely different way.
The HDD is divided into multiple drives so :-
C:\ is exclusively for M$, the paging files and some application state
information
D:\ is for all applications and M$ non operating system files e.g.
Office, Delphi, TortoiseSVN, Beyond Compare etc.
Because there is nothing on the C: or D: drives which need revision
control TortoiseSVN can be set to ignore them and hence ignore a
significant portion of the never to be controlled files.
E:\ is for data and applications under development so it contains lots
of WCs in folders generally with the same name as their corresponding
repo. I never checkout to the actual root of a drive i.e. E:\.
F:\ is for all downloaded stuff before it's unzipped and installed to
the C:, D: or E: drive.
This also makes regular defragmentation faster.
