Exactly!
The default owner drawn mode is better looking (that's why it's the
default). But of course, it's not well suited for screen readers.
Just change that setting, and TSVN then doesn't draw the entries itself
but lets windows do it, which means the menu's are then 'standard' with
windows having the full text of them.
The menus then look ugly, but I guess for your blind user that doesn't
really matter.
