Problems creating tag

I'm reasonably new to subversion and tortoise, so I expect I may be missing a
really basic piece of the puzzle... If someone could point me in the right
direction, I'd appreciate it.

I'm trying to create a tag in my subversion repository.

1) I right-click on the folder that has the project checked out;
2) From URL is "svn://[proper server path]/myProject/trunk/client"
3) I edit the To URL to: "svn://[proper server
path]/myProject/tag/client/2006-09-20_0.1"

*** The tag directory exists on the server, "/Client/2006-09-20_0.1"
subdirectory does not ***

4) HEAD revision in the repository is selected, click "Ok".

I get the following two errors:

Error Out of date: 'tag' in transaction '51-1'.
Error You have to update your working copy first.

Ok, easy enough... I've tried updating my working copy, but get nothing - I am
up to date! Nor do I have any changes in code to commit. I even deleted my
working copy - including the .svn folder - and re-checked out everything, to
make sure I wasn't missing something.

I created a tag earlier today, but I deleted the tag folder directly from the
Repo-browser window after I realized I needed to do a few more changes before
tagging.

Can anyone tell me why this isn't working? What I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.
Remi.
