Have you actually confirmed that you cannot use your CRLF source with
your linux tools? I've had the same wish as you (to be able to tell
checkout --eol-style=LF) but in the end found all the tools I'm using
(mainly gcc) gracefully handle any line type so I can leave everything
as CRLF.
