Right click a folder,
Select tortoisesvn/settings
Browse to Look and Feel/Icon Set

That should answer your question.

In the help, try searching for "status" or "overlays".

It would be nice if it was indexed under icons as well (I think that's
the first thing that comes to mind) and funny enough that's how the UI
refers to it.

We've installed subversion & tortoise and it seems to be working ok. The
documentation is voluminous, though, and it's a bit hard to find things.

What, exactly, is the red exclamation point telling me? How do I get rid
of it?
