Access is denied errors on large operations

From: Ryan Davis <ryan_at_acceleration.net>

I'm running Tortoise 1.3.3 build 6219 on windows XP.

When performing commits, updates, or checkouts that effect a lot of
files, I usually get this kind of error:

Error: Can't move \blah\.svn\tmp\entries' to 'blah\.svn\entries': Access
is denied.

None of these are case conflicts, the current case that got me
frustrated enough to ask is a checkout from scratch. I've found a
couple ways of recovering, mostly involving deleting files out of my WC
and running cleanup and then update, but it'd be great if there was a
way it would just work.

My WC is on a compressed folder in windows, but I have been able to
recreate the problem in non-compressed folders.

Any advice?
