And in the current version you can try to do it in an ad-hoc way by using something like sysinternals procexp.exe's process "suspend" when you find the cache firing up at bad times (eg by using something like sysinternal's filemon.exe) but I've found that doing this can have side effects (eg lock up explorer windows). But for certain operations (eg code/data building) it's pretty useful to keep the cache at bay for a while to let another disk intensive task finish within a reasonable amount of time.

BTW my TSVNCache mem use is 250Mb+!-P

In the upcoming 1.4.0 Release it is possible to deactivate the status cache completely.
Settings -> Look and Feel -> Status Cache
