That corrupted file problem used to happen to my PC as well long ago
(even before I started using TortoiseSVN. So TSVN has nothing to do
with your problem.

My thought is that IF an application is not writing to windows
registry directly (file open, write, close operations) then how can it
corrupt registry? All registry operations are handled via API in
windows. So it is windows itself which screwed that file OR it might
be hard ware problem too.

No blame goes to TSVN.
