Id keyword not working

I have put "$Id$" at the top of my Java file, but nothing seems to
happen. I read the Book, went to the TortoiseSVN Settings submenu, and
pressed the Edit button for "Subversion configuration file". In the
file, I uncommented the line "enable-auto-props = yes" and added the
line "*.java = svn:keywords=Id" to the bottom of the [auto-props]
section. But, still, nothing happens. What am I missing?
