update branch with older trunk revision

I have an older revision of a single file in the trunk that I would like to
checkout or update to a branch project. The error I get when I try and
perform a checkout is:
"Error: URL 'https://wush.net/***/IF_Firmware/trunk/UI.c' refers to a file,
not a directory"

I know I could update my working trunk copy to this revision, then copy it
over to the branch working copy, but that sounds like a lot of work and
there is a good chance of errors being introduced.

Any suggestions how I should be doing this?
