Forgive me if this question has already been asked on the list, but I
couldn't find the answer in the archives.
I'm planning on using the UpdateCheckURL registry entry to control
updates to a large number of developer machines. I have successfully
gotten Tortoise to download my version.txt and check against the version
number. If I hack the number to increase the version, Tortoise
correctly reports that a newer version is available. However, when I
click on the text to download the update it opens the page
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/ in my browser.
After checking out r5521 to my machine and looking through the code, it
appears that you use additional lines in version.txt to allow users to
specify their own update message and URL. I have updated my version.txt
to look like this:
> 1.3.1.5527
> Developers: Download this new version.
When Tortoise checks for updates, the "a newer version is available"
text and the download URL have not changed. After looking at the code,
it seems like what I'm doing should work. I would love to test the code
myself, but unfortunately, I only have Microsoft Dev Studio .NET 2003
installed and I can't muck with my environment.
Has anyone else used this extra functionality? If I could get this to
work, it would be of great help to me and my company.
Thanks for any input!
