Explorer column header question

Hi - Can someone tell me if you can have column headers display the SVN info
in explorer without having the network drives option checked for icon overlays.
It would appear not but don't understand why. I'm trying to improve the speed
of the folder access for the network drives & thought I might just be able
to just display the column info.
