shell icons not updated after executing commands

for example, after a commit of a file the file icon remains 'modified' until
refreshed (F5 in Windows Explorer). This probably happens also with other
commands (revert, etc.). Also, after running 'Check for Modifications', even
though modifications are found, the icons do not necessarily reflect these
modifications until refreshed.
