Logs to debug overlays being missing on windows 7 install

Hello,

I have issues with the overlays on a windows seven install both with 1.8.x series releases and the latest 1.9.x; even with C++ runtime libraries installed as per guidelines.

I have checked the typical overlay problems via a regedit to ensure they are ranked highest amongst whatever is installed on my machine.

Is it possible to set up logs in tortoise to nail down at which point the overlay display fails, could this be due to an issue with the communication to the server? Sems strange as update and commit options are still made aavilable as expected when browsing.
