1. Modify right
2. modify left
3. save both
4. modify right
5. modify left
6. save both

7. undo
   Left is modified, but mark as not modified, Rigth is not modified,
and with *
8. undo
  Both are modified, Both are missing *
9. undo
  ....

and there are also other use cases you are not covering.
