The only restriction is that a 1.6 client cannot use a 1.7 WC and vice
versa. As long as your users don't share working copies (which is
definitely not recommended anyway) and they don't use different
clients (e.g. TSVN and Subclipse) with different versions on the same
WC you will be fine. Any 1.x server can interact with any 1.x client.
