Patch: Speed up doc generation

Hi,

Attached patch addresses a performance issue in the doc generation script.
The patch is not fully tested (I have not yet done a thorough compare
between the original generated output and the newly generated output, but a
cursory compare through the Dutch manuals shows no issues.
