Log dialog filter by date

Hi folks,

The tooltip for the log dialog filter suggests "myname 2008" will
filter all my commits from 2008, but it doesn't work. The filter seems
to work as a text search on author and commit message but not on date.
We should either make it work on dates or change the tooltip.

There was another request today on the users list to filter by action.
If we come up with some sort of method to specify actions, maybe we
could also specify dates in a similar way.
