TSVNCache problem (Was: Overlay network share configuration -> explorer freeze/slowdown)

Ok... I'm seeing the explorer/TSVNCache slowdown again. This time it happens on my local disk, so the connection to networked drives must have been a coincidence.

What happens is that the explorer slows down to an absolute crawl. Multiple seconds to up to half a minute between responses to my clicks. When I look at TSVNCache.exe in the task manager I can see that it is steadily consuming memory. A click in the explorer leads to an increase of a couple of (say ten) megabytes over the period when the explorer stops responding. When TSVNCache stops growing the explorer comes back to life.

I tried looking at the TSVNCache process in Process Monitor (FileMon), and I see 0 disk accesses during this time.

Killing TSVNCache brings everything back to normal with a responsive explorer and a healthy amount of disk access from the new TSVNCache.

This is pretty annoying as it happens seemingly randomly, and not that frequently. Any ideas on what it could be or how I could go on debugging the problem when it occurs?

Running TortoiseSVN 1.6.99, Build 20848 - 32 Bit -dev, 2011/02/10 21:47:27 on XP.
