If there is no sharing then anyone using both clients will definitely
be in trouble as one of them will likely end up with almost nothing.
We already had that with TCVS. It is worth persisting with this.

Maybe TortoiseOverlays needs a small standalone UI program which
allows the user to see how many slots are available and pick which
overlays she wants to use. The clients would then have to make the
best of the user's choice of overlays.

If such a UI exists it could also allow you to disable some
non-Tortoise overlays (prefix the name with something that can be
removed again to re-enable). Some people are now doing that manually
using regedit because they want to give TSVN priority over dropbox or
whatever. I know it seems unfriendly to disable someone else's
overlays, but it can work both ways - you could also disable more
Tortoise overlays if you *do* want to see the dropbox overlays.
