Re: Not all overlays appear on Windows 7 with TSVN 1.6.7+

I still don't see what's wrong with my previous suggestion of offering
to disable some of the (mostly) useless Windows overlays during
install. I don't really like the "delete the registry entries
yourself" approach. For one thing, it doesn't really scale well for
system administrators who would need to manually delete registry
entries on potentially dozens of machines. I can envision a page in
the installer explaining there are not enough overlays and listing the
current Windows overlays with a brief description to aid the user in
making a choice about which to disable. The default selections on the
page would maintain the current settings so users blindly clicking
through the installer see no difference than today. Those of us who
do care, however, can deselect Windows overlays so TortoiseSVN can
actually function as intended.

I understand you're trying to play nice with other applications and
not just force your way in (which is indeed very annoying). However,
those of us who actually want to use all the features are getting
screwed unless we're willing to manually edit our registry. I think
*optionally* asking for permission to make changes on our behalf is
perfectly acceptable.
