Sorry. Didn't realize that you got a crash dialog.

Did the crash dialog provide any useful information? Can you reproduce the
bug? I tried a little but no luck so far. (Running TortoiseSVN 1.6.99, Build
17996 - 32 Bit -dev, 2009/12/14 22:22:41.)

I can reproduce this one everytime - I can call it 100% reproduceable under
the TortoiseSVN-1.6.99.17963-dev-win32-svn-1.6.6-dev.msi installed on my XP
system.

I can send you an e-mail from that dialogue if this can help, because it
suggests to send one to the developers. Additionally keep in mind that I am
also run the screen reader that tryes to hook a lot of windows functions -
if this matters of course.
