Searching for replaced lines in TortoiseMerge

Hi,
I am a student of Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science at Far Eastern State University in Russian Federation. And as a part (the major part) of my yearly project I'm going to implement a searching for replaced lines in analyzing text files. Frankly speaking, this feature already exists in other opensource project - WinMerge, but it will be great to implement it also in TortoiseMerge. First of all I'm going to investigate a number of algorithms before starting to write any code. I will glad to accept any help and advices from you.
