Did it crash only once? If it still crashes, could you send
me your Repositories.DAT file (%APPDATA%\TortoiseSVN\logcache)?
My theory: 1.6 upgrades that file (fact) but the result is
somehow invalid (assumption).

BTW: You can clear the log cache manually simply by deleting
the %APPDATA%\TortoiseSVN\logcache folder.
