Loosing history while importing repository

Hi,

Iam using subversion on Linux OS and client OS is Windows and GUI is
Tortoise.
When iam importing some folders from windows client into server which is on
Linux, the history is not retained. Is there any solution where I can retain
the history.
Please suggest me a solution.
