No, not a problem at all. You can work on bitmaps if you like.

Our source repository doesn't allow anonymous access, but it's still
accessible for everyone. Just use "guest" as username, leave the
password empty.

The explorer has different views for showing the files. The 'detailed'
view is the one which uses the smallest icons.
