Well first of all, there is a mute button on 99% of all applications
showing a video.
If not i bet you can switch off your speakers or take off your
headphones any time : )

You really need to know what you are looking for, and i didn't see any
heads up when i pressed the download link or checked the news feed
(altho i usualy don't spend a great deal of time looking for that
info), but it would be nice with some clear info at the download page
telling the users that the new version can't be used.
