I think that is a pretty naive way of looking at caching.

Caches will always be imperfect. You will always have something that you
don't have cached yet, or something cached which you won't use again.
The goal is to try to minimize the waste.

You can always give the client a parameter to say what maximum size
cache they want to use. Which gives them a lot more flexibility than
"cache everything" vs "cache nothing".

Anyway, we obviously have different viewpoints on this, which I feel we
have both adequately described. So there isn't much need to further
badger the list with our discussion.
