Thanks for the explanation. I can confirm your theory. I have unversioned files inside the external folder. If I move them out of the folder, the triangle doesn't show up. Move back in, triangle appears.

BUT :)
This is IMHO inconsistent behaviour. In the overlay settings we have the option "Unversioned files mark parent folder as modified".
- - If I check this option, the "modified " state trickles down to the WC root from the extenal folder which contains unversioned files. In this case I already have the hint about uncommitted changes in the explorer window and it's IMO correct if the commit dialog shows the triangle.
- - If I uncheck this option, I don't want to be informed about unversioned items in my WC, no matter how deep down they are and if they are externals or not. So I would expect the commit dialog *not* to show the yellow triangle.

Was this a design decision that we made earlier on and what was the reason for it, or is it just something that passed unnoticed up to now?
