Handle count

Hi,

I just found my computer reacting strangely -- seemingly
running out of resources. So, I checked and found that
the explorer now uses a whopping 31+k handles right
after booting XP (32 bit, SP2). This is with nightly r11556.

On my 64 bit computer, it's even worse: 98+k handles
after a few hours (XP, nightly r11512). But at least that
is nowhere near the system limit on x64.
