There are several funny stories with English words that sound similar to German ones but mean something different:

Like the German who supposedly wanted to order a steak in a restaurant:
"I want to become a steak please"

"become" sounds like the german "bekommen" which is often used when ordering something :)

or another one:
German "wo" sounds like English "who" but means "where"
German "wer" sounds like English "where" but means "who"

I was in a Bed&Breakfast in Wales. A fellow countryman wanted to ask the landlord why the sun wasn't shining (normal weather conditions in Wales ;)), pointed at the cloudy sky and said "who is the sun?" He got a puzzled look and the reply "I only have two daughters".

Cheers
