I don't really know why the RC version would succeed. I couldn't find
anything in the log from the Subversion repository which would explain
this. But there are some changes in neon (the library which is actually
responsible for the SSPI authentication) which might have something to
do with this.

Can you maybe try a nightly build from the TSVN trunk? That one is
linked against neon 0.27.2 instead of 0.26.4 as the 1.4.x releases.
