I've noticed that when tooltips pop up, they often seem to be in an
inappropriate location, and sometimes obscure the text or the field I
am trying to type in, or some information that I'm trying to look at
in another part of the form. I noticed this when using the
repo-browser, but I've also seen it in other places. The main
indication of this is that I have to move my mouse away from where I'm
typing in order to continue.
I think this could be improved with any of the following suggestions:
- option to not display tooltips
- even better, the placement of the tooltip should not be so
intrusive. It could be anchored to the field that the tip applies to,
instead of the mouse pointer, and could be displayed underneath the
field, instead of above it. Often you work with a form from top to
bottom, to displaying the tip underneath might have less of a chance
of obscuring information you are looking at further up the form.
