Thanks for the reproduction recipe.
I think this is fixed now: I've updated to the latest Subversion trunk
(r27714) and I don't get any conflicts at all with the merge.
I've also compared the merge result with '7,5', '5,7', and '5-7' with
identical results.

Please try the next nightly build (will commit the svn update soon, I'm
currently testing some other stuff...) and let me know if you still have
the same issue.
