Even better, why not make the Delete option go away for items not
yet committed, or if it can't be removed from the menu, add a
warning? I don't see any good outcome from using SVN DEL on a
file not in the repository, can anybody else think of a use
case?

Can context menus even make the decision to remove or change an
item in real time?
