Tooltip Guru wanted for revision graph

Hi folks,

on saturday, I wasted more than 6 hours searching for a
way to place the graph node tooltip at a position, *I* chose.
Resizing is no problem, moving is.

Even copying stuff from TortoiseBlame did not help. Then,
I decided to give up -- in favor of my mental health.
Could someone with more patience please step up
and give it another try?

Background:

Log messages (for merges) and other text info can become
very extensive. So, you want the tooltips showing that info
to use as much screen space as necessary or available.

The standard implementation will place tooltips longer than
50% of the screen hight *at* the same x-coordinate as the
mouse cursor -> gets hidden immediately -> flicker.
The current workaround limits the height to ~400 pixels
(depending on the formatting of the text).
