I aggree that there is a resolution dependent limit to the number of
authors that can be shown at once. And this limit is certainly lower
than 1000.

I would like to see a resolution dependent limit. Also, with pie diagrams
you can still reasonably draw sections 3 pixels wide on the circumference.
At 1600x1200, the pie may have a 1000 pixels diameter, which translates
into
0.1 percentiles resolution. So, 100+ authors *could* be displayed.

Yes, that would be more useful. Today, the right 80% of the slider are
"wasted". The range should be 1 to min (#authors, maxListLength).

Just an idea: Perhaps there could be two sliders to select a range of
authors. If the number of authors selected is larger than the before
mentioned limit, the remaining ones are aggregated into "others".

Another thing that may be useful when the number of authors becomes large,
is a button to "exclude others": Even the top-10 committers may account
for less than, say, 30% of the changes.

Sorry for the late response, I've been very busy over the last view days.
