Delay starting explorer

Hi folks,

While investigating a TMerge crash I uninstalled TSVN for the first
time in a couple of years and found that explorer suddenly gets more

When TSVN is uninstalled, Explorer populates left and right panes
almost instantly. When TSVN is installed and I start explorer, both
left and right panes are usually completely blank for 5 seconds before
anything is shown (sometimes the left pane is part-populated).
Explorer always starts up with the default view (My Documents, My
computer, My network places & Recycle Bin in the left pane, and the
drive list in the right). During this 5s period the window cannot be
dragged. This happens every time I start explorer, not just the first
time. There is no CPU activity to speak of, and I have no mapped

This is Win2K on an 800MHz laptop, so not too quick, but it doesn't
seem to be doing anything during the delay.
