I don't know if you guys (The Stefan's) saw this on the
svn list or not.
The reason I post it here is:
A.) So that we can make sure it would meet our needs if it
were committed.
B.) If A, we can encourage committal, perhaps simply by
saying we tried it and it past all tests. (I would
do this myself, but my build environment has bit rotted
into uselessness.)

I don't have a Win64 machine to try this patch out on, but FWIW I did
apply it to my Win32 setup and can confirm it doesn't have any ill
effects there.
