I'm not sure, I just estimate:
1.) 1&1 has much more users than TSVN mailing list
2.) Many people use the Thunderbird mail client, as it is suggested by
default. That means: Set one SMTP-server as standard for all of your
mail accounts. ... and that means, that many of the mails are proxied by
3rd party.
3.) So many mailservers as gmx, web.de, bluewin.ch, hotmail.com, ...
receive mails from proxies. ...And because of 1.) also from 1&1, and
there seem to be no problems.
4.) On other mailing lists as netbeans.org, I'm not the only user who
has this problems with ezmlm.
... and last but not least, I estimate, that there are better chances
for fixing of this problem by the ezmlm-people than by 1&1.
As I understand right, the ezmlm program got both addresses, the normal
and the weird. Why it tries to use the weird?
Maybe the 1&1 people don't adhere to the standards, but nobody than the
ezmlm program has problems with that.

I more like to invest my time in bug-posting or/and fixing than to
discuss who should do that. So I post everything, which is suspicious to
me, as a possible bug, as I do with TSVN. I hope you appreciate that.

Cheers,
Ulf
