Hi Simon
My Win2K VM is a real one and all works as expected.

There was a bug, reported by me 3/6 re r9633 which Stefan fixed by
downgrading the images from pretty ones back to the old style.
Maybe you install has gotten stuck with the new images?

I just checked that 16 and 32 bit colour settins still allow the text to
display so I cannot reproduce the problem here.
