TortoiseSVN 1.4.3, Build 8851 - 32 Bit -dev
Recent changes in repo-browser regarding non-existent URLs are IMHO
incorrect. There are few problems. Sorry for reporting them in the
same mail, but I think they are related enough to warrant that.
1) What I did: Start repo-browser from inside working copy, add any
garbage text as the last part of the URL, press "Enter"
What happened: garbage entered is displayed as additional node in tree view.
What I expected: Error message about non-existing URL.
2) What I did: Open Merge dialog from inside working copy, select a
non-existing "From URL" from the drop-down box, Press "..." button.
What happened: Error message about non-existing URL.
What I expected to happen: Parent URL is displayed instead of the one
I selected, as in previous TSVN versions.
I realize this was intentional change, but I think it is inconvenient
one. Often I want t merge a new topic branch by developer which has
URL 'branches/ProjectName/DeveloperName/TopicName' where TopicName may
be somewhat arbitrary, while previous parts of the URL. I usually pick
some recently-merged URL from the same developer, get into
'branches/ProjectName/DeveloperName' path since the topic branch I
picked is already deleted, and select a new topic from there.
So please, if it is out of question to revert to previous behavior, at
least display 'incorrect' URL in the "URL" field, where it can be
easily edited.
3) What I did: Open Merge dialog from inside working copy, select a
non-existing "From URL" from the drop-down box, Press "..." button.
Read error message about non-existing URL. Select existing URL from
"URL" combobox.
What happened: See attached picture.
What I expected to happen: Selected URL displayed correctly.
